BRONX, NY – Truman tennis players were treated to a fun and interactive clinic on April 5th, hosted by tennis player and tennis brand marketing expert Bryan Griffin. Tennis Coach Kaitlin McCabe – a personal friend of Griffin’s – arranged the workshop, which was originally planned to last an hour – but ended up going more than three hours. Coach McCabe summarized the event:
Bryan (Griffin) spoke to students about his experiences playing tennis in college and on tour and explained how learning the game and fostering community opened up doors for him in his professional career today. He then fielded questions from students before engaging with the kids in drills and match play. The students were having such a wonderful time, embracing the challenges and taking his tips and tricks to heart for their own game play. He is scheduled to come again in May and hopes we can develop an ongoing partnership.
McCabe added that throughout his career, Griffin has worked with other tennis pros, as well as brands like Adidas Tennis, Wilson, K-Swiss and Fila. He hopes to use those connections to bring more opportunities to Truman students in the future.
I wanted to share as well that we had at least 15 students attend who have never played tennis before; they heard the announcement and were eager to join. I’m thrilled to show footage of my players – who learned how to play from me just this past season – sharing their knowledge and tips with their peers. I am immensely proud of them and the confidence they have developed.
