Need to Talk? NYC Teenspace Offers Free Online Therapy for Students

BRONX, NY – Students at Truman High School and across New York City now have FREE access to a new tool to connect with mental health counseling.  “NYC Teenspace,” powered by Talkspace, is a $26-million dollar initiative to provide improved access for teens aged 13 to 17.

HOW IT WORKS

  • NYC students aged 13 to 17 can gain access to Talkspace services in just a few steps.
  • Visit talkspace.com/nyc from a computer or mobile device, and enter your birthdate and address to qualify.
  • Answer a few questions about yourself and your preference for therapy
  • Enter the email address of a parent or guardian, who will then receive an email to provide consent
  • Students are typically matched to a therapist licensed in New York within 24 hours, based on factors such as what they’re struggling with and therapist specialty.
  • Students will have access to one live video session per month and unlimited messaging therapy from their computer or smartphone.  Therapists generally respond every day, five days per week.
  • Students will also have access to online mental health exercises and interactive courses designed for teens through the Talkspace Go app.
