BRONX, NY – The Truman Air Force JROTC marked the end of the 2016-17 academic year by holding their annual Dining Out and Military Ball event. It was hosted in the Culinary Cafe on Truman’s 6th floor, and was catered by the Culinary Program.
The guest speaker was SMSgt Julio Alarcon, of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. He gave the cadets advice on what he called the four keys of success.
“Opportunity is a door that is waiting to open for you. And I can guarantee you that if you have the right aptitude, the right motivation and the right attitude, the second that opportunity presents itself, you’re going to jump right on it,” SMSgt Alarcon said.
In addition to a dinner and dance, the event included the induction of seven cadets into the Kitty Hawk Air Society. The Kitty Hawk Air Society is a national AFJROTC academic honor society that recognizes academic and military achievement by cadets, provides additional leadership/educational opportunities, and encourages excellence. Members of KHAS, once inducted, will wear the KHAS badge on the uniform.
The event was broadcast live on the web by the Truman Media Program. Truman’s own “D.J. Louie” provided music for the evening. To watch portions of the event, play the video below:
