BRONX, NY – Eighth grade students from across the Bronx and parts of Manhattan made their way to Co-Op City on November 1st to get a first-hand look at what Truman has to offer as part of three annual Open House events.
“You really can’t appreciate everything this school offers unless you come see it yourself,” according to Katie Mourino, the Assistant Principal of Pupil Personnel Services. Mourino spearheads the tour organization efforts. “We hear that year-after-year from the parents who come and visit.”
The tour takes families into the Culinary kitchens, Robotics and Engineering labs, science labs, television broadcast studio, swimming pool, digital planetarium, gymnasiums and other areas of the building.
“I had no idea this was all here,” said one 8th grade parent who wished not to be named. The tours were publicized at several city-wide high school fairs.
There is one final Open House date available to 8th grade families on December 4th, from 5-8pm. Families should try to arrive no later than 7pm when doors will close and the final tour will begin. If you cannot make the event on December 4th, please use the CONTACT US page to request a personal tour.
