BRONX, NY – Truman High School continues to attract and retain class-leading expert faculty in all academic areas. This spring, Earth Science and Astronomy instructor Kathleen Robbins had an article published in Science Scene, the science education journal published by Forestry Suppliers, Inc. She was approached by Science Scene at the 2013 ASCD meeting in Chicago and asked to write an article about how she introduces Earth Science to students in an urban setting.
The article, which can be found by CLICKING HERE, leads off with a half page picture of Mrs. Robbins leading Harry S. Truman students on a field trip to the Museum of Natural History. The article discusses Mrs. Robbins’ travels, especially to Yellowstone National Park, and is dovetailed with a segment on biodiversity of that area. Her publication also includes two activities that she uses for teaching rock identification and the rock cycle in her classroom. Mrs. Robbins is excited to announce that Science Scene has asked her to stay on as a contributing author.
